Work Based Learning students set to start

JDG Media will once again welcome students from the University of Chester through our partnership with them on their Work Based Learning programme.

Sports Journalism students Alice Stoker and Michael Baker will spend five weeks with the company, to get some real-life experience as part of their degree studies.

Managing Director James Gordon said: “I make no secret of the fact that being able to go on work placement while I was studying at university was extremely important in me gaining the experience that led me to first being employed in the industry, and then starting my own company.

“Opportunities are hard to come by, so the work based learning programme enables students to make an impression, and possibly even create opportunities for themselves. As well as gaining experience that will serve them well whatever they choose to do, they may also impress sufficiently to earn a full-time job when their studies are completed.”

Last year, Barnaby Frampton, Elliott Tunstall and Sam Viller all had a successful five weeks at the company, producing content for our network of sports websites.

Professor Peter Harrop, Pro-Vice Chancellor at the Warrington Campus of the University of Chester said: “We are very pleased to work with JDG to expand our network of placement opportunities. Graduate prospects are very important to the University, and there is no doubt that these opportunities assist our students in developing their careers.”

Alice and Michael will start at JDG Media on Tuesday May 7th.
