JDG Media appoints new director

Warrington-based JDG Media Ltd has appointed a business development director as part of plans to help grow its client base and expand its range of services.

Nick Gordon has joined the sports content and marketing agency and will be responsible for both new business and strategic input into the company’s growth plans.

Part of the strategy will involve repositioning the brand as JDG Sport, to reflect its desired status as a specialist sports marketing supplier.

Gordon has a background in corporate marketing with transport group, Arriva, and also brings a huge knowledge and passion for sport as a player and administrator across a variety of North West-based clubs including Marine AFC, Ormskirk RUFC and Hightown St. Mary’s CC.

The 41-year-old, who is not related to namesake JDG Media’s Managing Director, James Gordon, is excited about the challenge ahead.

He said: “The opportunity to work in sport was simply one I could not resist.  The business is in a great position to expand further and I look forward to helping make it happen.

“Not only will we build on what we do well, such as writing great content or managing our own publications, like the hugely successful Love Rugby League site, we will also add a broader range of marketing and PR services that will help our clients reach out and increase their audience,” he added.

James Gordon added: “I have known Nick for a few years having met him through sport via one of our early clients. Being able to bring someone of his experience into the business at this time is a real boost and the potential for growth now is an exciting project.

“My passion for and knowledge of sport has been the main USP of the business, and Nick’s appointment means that I can continue to focus on the development of strategies for clients and delivery of services.”

James, 28, founded JDG Media in 2010 and is now supported by a team of marketing specialists, journalists and account managers. The company boasts a range of clients across clubs, governing bodies, publications, sponsors and associated sports brands.
